It’s hard to believe that we are already almost at the end of February. If you have made New Year’s resolutions for yourself and saving money is one of them, then lowering your heating bills may be a good place to start.

There are a number of things you can do this winter season to conserve energy and make your home more energy efficient.

By simply opening your curtains on cold days, you could let the sun in to help naturally warm your house.

If you’re away at work during the day, set your thermostat so it adjusts to a slightly lower temperature until you come home.

Caulking or applying weather stripping around windows and doors where you feel air leaks is important.  Doing so would help keep the temperature in your home more stable. This may take a little more effort and require a trip to your local hardware store but this would help lessen the burden on your heating system.

Following these easy to do winter tips will help save energy, lower your monthly bills, and put more money in your pocket.
